NASCAR Point Standings, NASCAR Points, NASCAR Points System

How do they score points in NASCAR?

I'm not a huge NASCAR fan. Fact is I'm only 6'-1' and about 205 lbs, so I'm not that big of a fan at all.

However, with the Chase for the 2006 NEXTEL Cup drawing closer to checkering a victor, I thought I'd share some of the work I did on TickCo.com.

If you've ever wondered how they score points in NASCAR, how drivers qualify for the Chase for the NEXTEL Cup or you just want a quick look at the current top 5 drivers in NASCAR and their points, feel free to check out my NASCAR Points Standings page on TickCo.com.

If I forgot to mention it, you look fabulous today!

Papago Park Single Track - Phoenix Arizona Mountain Bike Trail

It was a little muggy today - prolly about 90-92 degrees when we hit the park entrance. It was the second ride for my wife on her new Gary Fischer Big Sur.

We took the lower loop around the golf course again, but hit it twice this time - just got the cyclometer on the night before, so I've got the specs on the trail - 2.5 mile loop - hugging the golf course fence from start to finish.

Great for sprint workouts, or if you have a beginner to break in, or if you need to introduce a rider to the loose, red, Arizona, desert terrain.

The wife's picking it up well - no fear - but that's to be expected from the ex-mountain climber who once rode for the Northern Arizona University Cycling Team. She's ditched the road, and now we're slinging' sand together!

Mountain Bike Shoes - Forte Traverse III MTB / Touring / Spin Shoe

Just popped into Performance Bicycle to pick up some cycling shoes. I'm new to clip-ins, but I couldn't resist the price.

I recommend Performance Bicycle to anyone with access to the online store or a local storefront. Become a member and save nice ging on just about every purchase.

Since I started shopping there about three weeks ago, I've easily saved over $300 .

Logon and check 'em out.

My Other Blog - Insider

When I'm not running, riding or dreaming about buying a kayak I actually have to work, so I'll take a second here to promote my other blog.

It's Insider and my buddy and me do it to offer our wisdom regarding event tickets, ticket brokers, the business of buying and selling sports, concerts and theatre tickets that are no longer available through the box office, and pretty much whatever pops into our heads that's loosely related to TickCo Premium Seating - that's who we work for.

If you're ever in need of hard-to-find or sold-out event tickets, give me a ring at work. My extension is 856 and you can find the 800-number and the tickets you're looking for on TickCo.com.

I'm off to the Badlands and Black Hills area of South Dakota for the holiday. I shall return to Phoenix, AZ with more tales of the outdoors from Mount Rushmore country in a few days.

Stop by my band's site (HELVIS) until then if you're in need of free punk MP3s. If you can't navigate to the free downloads, just look for HELVIS on MySpace and you can have a listen. I'd link to it here but I'm at work and MySpace is blocked like it should be at any company that hopes to keep its employees productive.

That's right my Blow-Pop-eating children of darkness, HELVIS has been reformed, resurrected, and foam-injected, and you heard it here first on Blogger.

Plantar Fasciitis

My boy Josh over at CoolRunning.com has some great, easy-to-read tips for common running ailments, foot pain, foot injuries and arch pain.

His info came in handy for diagnosing and treating my latest training speed-bump - Plantar Fasciitis. I won't cover it here, since Josh nails the symptoms in his post and his instructions for wrapping the foot during treatment are spot-on.

If you're suffering from Plantar Fasciitis follow his instructions for arch support strapping. His steps for this particular wrap mimics the wrap my own foot-doctor put on me almost a year ago as I was being fitted for arch supports (orthotics). He lays it out there almost as if he where there in the office when my doctor wrapped my foot in the same way.

If you think you're suffering from Plantar Fasciitis, follow Josh Clark's instructions for now. I'm already feeling a little relief just wearing my orthotics all day instead of just on runs. I'm headed to CVS to get the wrap supplies now. I'll follow up in a later post to comment on how the wrap and the supports work out together.

All The Best.

Rain in AZ

We've got cloud cover!
It would've been a good day to run for 2o, but the ol' arch was buggin'.
Headed to The Runners Den to get some new zapatos.

Tip for Beginning Runners
If anything hurts for too long as you start training - like a knee, arch or ankle that hurts every time you run and aches for a couple of days after - don't give up your training. Talk to a foot specialist about arch supports. It's probably been a while since you put your body through this type of motion and the ol' sack a bones needs some help from supports to get your legs realigned for running again.

I had to do this because my arches had collapsed since the ol' glory days of high school football. The Doc. hooked me up and now I can roll 11-13 miles with proper training and walk without a limp a day or two later. The limp's 'cause I'm old - not because the arch supports aren't working.

A lot of beginning ailments will fade as your muscles get back into shape. Just keep at it and repeat after me, "1,2,3,4 - 4 more steps I'll go 4 more."

Holla Mi Amigos

Thought it might be time for me to enter the world of blogging.

What Will I Blog About?
The lack of good modern punk. American's ridiculous knack for coming down too hard on my migrating friends from south of the border, and maybe a few posts about running, rowing and riding. Oh - and a few rants about Reality TV and other things that disgust me.

You want reality TV?
It's called NFL Football on Fox.
